Farewell to February

February said farewell in a lovely way... cold temperatures but lots of sunshine.  It seemed as if suddenly the birds truly believed that spring would soon arrive and began their songs in earnest.  March 1st definitely roared in like a lion, but oh, on that last day of February, we all enjoyed the sunshine and had a renewed sense of hope.

Sunshine

We've been 'walking on sunshine' around here... rain is supposed to move in this afternoon, followed by rain and snow mix and finally snow this weekend.   The humans and the peeps sure have been enjoying the sunshine, but the sheeps are definitely ready for snow and colder weather.

Sunshine... Finally

After a week of continuous wind, rain and snow everyone was enjoying the abundant sunshine of today.

From the expectant mama ewes to Aragorn and Beef, everyone was soaking up the light and warmth.  The yearling ewes nuzzlied my face and neck while I was emptying the snow and ice from their feeders.  It was just a wonderful way to start the morning.

 

Even Spot... the barn cat that on a normal day you can't get within ten feet of... was looking for attention today, and not once but twice came looking to get scratched behind the ears before retreating into her hay cave.
