Round and Round

Saturday we brought the lambs in for another round of FAMACHA scoring, and were really pleased with their condition and improvement in a lot of their scores.  They are growing really well for the most part, and producing beautiful fleeces.

We moved the ewes into the knoll paddock, away from Liam and Strider.  Although we are late lambers, there is a chance that some of the girls may start to cycle as the days grow shorter and cooler.  Spring goes a lot smoother if there are no accidental early lambs.

Then, just to add a little extra spice to life, we moved Bella and Sam in together.  Hmmm... well we'll see what happens there.
And, so the cycle of farm life continues... the rhythm of each season, rounds of health checks, rotating pastures and of course, the circle of life itself.

  3. Love your green pastures. Looks like I will have some Dorper lambs mid January, 100 degrees out and ram was out chasing one of the ewes, at least by then I should have grass.

  4. Our goal is to get a corral and handling system so we can do more checks through the summer.
    Nice pictures :)
